It won't be a day for wearing high heels, but what a great and exciting schedule! Should we try to meet in a specific part of the train (third door from the front/second carriage after the buffet)? Or will we just shout and wave at Market Harborough?
Sorry I cant be with you today. I was looking forward to showing you around the office, introducing you to the team and showing you around the exhibition Taking Liberties, which is one of 2 temporary exhibitions we develop each year. This one opened at the end of the October after almost 2 years planning and is due to close on 1st March.
In my role I was responsible for all audio, film and interactive elements. I would particularly like your feedback on the interactive as this is the first time the library has done something so extensive that really permeated the whole exhibition.
I dont want to give you any instructions as Im interested partly in how intuitive it is - but as you dont have long it may be helpful to know that there are 7 sections to the exhibition. You may want to split up to make sure you cover the whole exhibition between you. Its then important that you all make it to the end where there are 2 large projections where your results and everyone else's are presented and compared - even if you haven't visited each of the 7 sections.
We can use these questions below to start a conversation - which I will happily continue on a blog/via email or I can pop up to Leicester.
1) At the bottom of the stairs where the main exhibition begins was it immediately apparent what you had to do and whether you had to do it?
2) On encountering the first set of screens - how intuitive was the hardware to use?
3) Did the structuring of the questions make sense?
4) Was the connection between the questions and the section you were in apparent?
5) What do you think the interactive (and other film elements) were trying to achieve in the exhibition - or what did they achieve? (perhaps, what would the exhibition have looked like/felt like without it?)
6) Did you like it(you're not obliged to say yes!)
Quick reminder we do take an intern from Leicester each year...this is not always e-Learning/digital based but that could certainly be requested.
Hope you have a good day - check out turning the pages (in the Ritblat Gallery) and our virtual curator in the Magna Carta room. Really sorry I cant be there - if you're stopping for lunch here we have a cafe inside at the back and one outside in the Piazza - There's also Pizza Express across the road.
Alex
